Raising the Flag for Armed Forces Day

On 23rd June 2023 colleagues gathered on The Green to raise the Armed Forces Day flag, part of the Trust's celebration of Armed Forces Reserves Day (22nd June) and Armed Forces Day (24th June). Lisa Thomas, Chief Operating Officer, spoke about how important the day and our relations with the military community are to the Trust.

Also on The Green, members from D-Detachment, 243 (The Wessex) Field Hospital Army Reserves had a stand, and ArtCare offered a pop-up history coffee club. And, as happens with many of our celebrations, free ice cream was provided for staff!

Both days are part of Armed Forces Week, a campaign to celebrate and show support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community, including serving troops, Service families, veterans and cadets.Ìý

Commemorating our Act of Remembrance

On the 9th November 2023 colleagues, visitors and patients gathered on The Green to commemorate an Act of Remembrance for our Armed Forces, including our Commonwealth countries, for each of the fallen members during the World Wars and all military conflicts. Those in attendance included Stacey Hunter, Chief Executive Officer and Ian Green, Chair of the Board of Directors, both laying poppy wreaths before the period of 2 minutes silence during a Service of Remembrance led by our Chaplaincy team.

Our staff at ºÚÁÏÍø District Hospital have long been well regarded for the quality of care and treatment they provide for our patients and for their innovation, commitment and professionalism. This has been recognised in a wide range of achievements and it is reflected in our award of NHS Foundation Trust status. This is afforded to hospitals that provide the highest standards of care.
